At Grot + Beauty, our mantra is that business can be better. It was a combined love of both plants and beauty that this venture was created, after all. That's why we proudly donate 5% of sales to the Amazon Watch. We also take pride in sourcing the vast majority of our plant constituents from the "little guys" that share our same passion for sustainability. It's not always the easiest route, but this approach allows us to get our hands on rare and finest-quality materials that the big guys can't due to their scale. Below, we outline our efforts to embrace sustainable packaging practices:

 

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING:

Our paper packaging boxes are 100% recyclable untreated fiber paperboard, and the paper comes from Forestry Stewardship Council and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative certified suppliers. These are fast-growing production forests. Not only do production forests negate the need to log in old forests, seedlings and growing trees are more effective at capturing carbon than the agricultural land these forests may have replaced. All of our boxes are 100% printed and produced in the USA.

Our mailer box is made from mostly recycled material while also adhering to the forest sustainability standards for all of our other paper boxes. Corrugated paperboard is not only a valuable material for recycling facilities, but it is the most recycled material on Earth. Please recycle our mailer box.

 Our void fill is naturally biodegradable, recyclable paper material made from 100% recycled post-consumer and post-industrial waste.

 Our glass jars are the best on the market and made to prolong the freshness of our products. The glass jars can be cleaned with mild soap and water or wiped with alcohol and reused. Let dry before reusing. They are built to last but are also 100% recyclable. Our labels (produced in the USA) are removable to make recycling or reusing our glass jars as easy as possible for you. Glass can be recycled an infinite number of times. In a landfill, however, glass will virtually never break down. Please, reuse or recycle our glass jars.

 Our tea packaging boxes are made from the same FSC-certified as well as Sustainable Forestry Initiative-certified material and standards that all of our other paper boxes are held to. Our tea paper boxes are 100% recyclable. Please recycle our tea paper boxes. The cellophane that holds our loose leaf tea is certified backyard/home compostable and marine biodegradable. It is a vegan, non-GMO sustainable wood-pulp derived bioplastic made in the USA that is suitable for anaerobic digestion, “aiding the diversion of organic wastes from landfill”. This bioplastic material is made from Forestry Stewardship Council-certified cellulose fibers sourced using sustainable forestry practices. We choose a paper box packaging over glass, because paper is biodegradable, lightweight (requiring less energy to transport to your home and to a recycling center), recyclable, and responsibly renewable.
